BLUEDEVILS IMPROVE TO 5-1 COASTING

TO 39-6 WIN OVER MEADOWCREEK 

The  blue devils wasted little time as they took the opening kickoff and marched 65yds capped by a ten yard touchdown run by Devin Simpkins. After a nice defensive stand, Norcross moved back down the field and Desmond Davis ran in from ten yards out and with 3:30 to go in the 1st period it was 14-0.  In the second quarter a Norcross misfield-ed punt gave the mustangs life, and with 7:50 to go in the quarter, a tipped pass capped a short drive and Meadowcreek was on the board. The two point coverserion was no good and it was a one score game at 14-6.  Meadowcreek held norcross on downs the next series, but after the exchange the mustangs long pass was intercepted by Davis on the 25 yd line, Two plays later, Barker hit Pickney on a long completion. After a personal foul was tacked on, Simpkins burst up the middle for 40 yd run and it was suddenly 21-6 with 1:15 to go in the half.

In the 3rd quarter the blue devil defense again stiffened and after a short punt and a short drive Simpkins again went in from 15 yds out , and the score was 27-6. On the ensuing kickoff the mustangs had good field position but a long pass attempt was intercepted by Jesus Faz. On the next play Rudy Guillen scampered 40 yds around left end for the end zone and it was all of a sudden 33-6 with 2:54 to go in the third quarter. The final quarter was quite but the Mustangs were simply worn down by the Bluedevils offensive line and heavy doses of Simpkins and Payton. Payton capped the final drive with a 30 yd TD run with 5:40 left and the game ended  Norcross 39  Meadowcreek 6.
