BLUEDEVILS TAME BEARS IN 27-20 WIN

Coach Chris Hall said it best after the game """ Our mistakes allowed them to stay in the game. """  The offensive line and entire running game was dominant and on track in this one as the  Bears had no answer.  In the first quarter ,with primarily a running drive, Griffin Barker scored on a short run to put Norcross up 7-0.  Devin Simpkins hard nosed running led the way moving the team down the field.  Later in the 1st Jermone Pledger scored on a short run , the extra point was wide and Norcross led 13-0.   But with 46 seconds to go in the 1st, the Bears struck with a 60 yd touchdown  run and closed the gap to 13-7.  In the second quarter Norcross continued to pound the ball, and Simpkins scored on short run with 7:24 left and Binghams extra point was good and Norcross led  20-7.  On the Bears next possession with 7:00 to go in the second, Fredrick Aka recovered a Bears fumble.  With the strong running game, Nathaniel Thomas scored on 5 yd run, the extra point was good, and Norcross led 27-7.  The Bears took the kickoff and moved down the field. With 59 seconds in the half, Norcross scored on a 45 yd pass to end the half leading 27-14.

The second half featured mistakes that keep the Blue Devils from blowing the game open.  After a long drive to the Bears 15 yd line, a fourth down pass fell incomplete that ended the scoring opportunity.  The Bears moved the ball unsuccessful, but on fourth down faked a punt and completed a long pass. The drive stalled as Blue Devils Jesus Faz intercepted an intended pass.  After another Norcross turnover and with 4:38 left, the Bears completed a long pass to the Blue Devils 4yd line. One play later and a missed PAT the score became 27-20.  The Bears on side kick was unsuccessful, and the Blue Devils power running game ran out the clock.
